Valleypoint Lead Pastor Transition
Brief note from the Pastor Team
On April 13th, Valleypoint lead pastor Jim Shiner announced his transition to lead a church in Georgia. Jim served faithfully and we are excited about what God has done in his life and will continue to do. As we walk through the transition of our Lead Pastor, we are trusting God to guide us every step of the way. This is a time of prayer, unity, and hope as we seek the person God is calling to lead Valleypoint into the next season of life and mission. We created this page to keep our church family informed and encouraged. You’ll find updates, our process, and ways you can pray and participate.
We’re committed to clarity, humility, and dependence on the Lord throughout this journey. “And they prayed and said, ‘You, Lord, who know the hearts of all, show us...’” – Acts 1:24

Pastor Jim's Transition Announcement
Our Process
In line with Valleypoint’s Constitution, here’s how we are moving forward:
Interim Leadership
Pastor Jim named Life Groups Pastor David Calhoun the Temporary Lead Pastor to serve as leader of the pastor team until a new lead pastor is secured.
Search Team Formation
After prayerful discernment, the Pastor Team believes that the next season of leadership will come from outside our current team. With that in mind, we’ll be launching a Pastor Search Team to help us seek and discover who God is preparing to lead Valleypoint into the future.
This team will be selected by both the Servant Leadership Team and the current Pastor Team, and then affirmed by our congregation. It will include 5–7 people who represent the heart and diversity of our church family. Per our constitution, the team will include at least one pastor, two servant leaders, one trustee, and two members from the congregation—with at least two women on the team to reflect the unity and diversity we value so much.
We’re trusting God to guide every step, and we’re confident He’s preparing someone special to join our mission. Let’s keep praying and believing—great days are ahead for Valleypoint!
Congregational Involvement
Once a candidate is identified, the church will have the opportunity to meet the person, ask questions, and participate in a formal vote.
Our goal is to walk forward in unity and listen well to the Spirit and one another.
