Meet Rob and Mary Broussard 👇🏽

About Rob

He grew up in a military family, the son of a C-141 pilot and a faithful deacon. His parents instilled the value of Christ not just in word, but in the rhythm of everyday life. After his father retired, they settled in Anchorage, Alaska, a place he still considers home.

At 19, during Coast Guard Boot Camp, he truly came to faith. After serving 4.5 years, including two tours in the Persian Gulf, he returned to the Northwest. He met his wife, Mary, a seminary student whose passion for ministry inspired his own calling.

With Mary’s encouragement, he left his career as a commercial diver and pursued theological training. While in seminary, their family grew to include five sons and three adopted children. In 2016, they were called to serve in Yakima, Washington. His calling is simple: to preach Christ with clarity, creativity, and compassion, and to love people like He does.

Rob's Education

He holds a Master of Divinity (MDiv) from Gateway Theological Seminary, where he focused on church revitalization and rural ministry.

His academic concentration was on Hebrew and the Minor Prophets, reflecting his deep love for Scripture. He also completed the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree through his service in the U.S. Coast Guard, a journey that instilled in him discipline, resilience, and a heart for service.

For 12 years, he has served as a Police and Sheriff’s Chaplain, providing spiritual care in times of crisis. His passion is to help people understand, love, and live out the inerrant Word of God.

Rob's Ministry Journey

He was called to ministry in 2006 and began his journey under the discipleship of his pastor, Jimmy Caraway. He went on to pursue theological training, where he served as a Minister to the Elderly and developed a love for intergenerational ministry.

After graduating in 2012, he became the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Ajo, Arizona, and began serving as a Pima County Sheriff’s Chaplain.

In 2016, he was called to Terrace Heights Baptist Church in Yakima, Washington, where he has served as Senior Pastor for almost a decade. He continues his chaplaincy work with the Yakima County Police Department. Throughout his ministry, his passion has remained constant: to connect people to the Word of God and make His name great.

Rob's Family

Mary and her husband were both raised as Air Force kids, she as the daughter of a chaplain, and he as the son of a pilot. Their upbringing involved moving all over the world, which gave them a deep appreciation for different cultures and a strong foundation of faith. They married in 2005 and have since been blessed with a chaotic, loving, and grace-filled home with eight incredible children. Though not all are biological, every child is fully theirs.
